This isn’t technically concept, but since it involves concept work and it’s pretty darn exciting, I had to make a post about it!
Next month Aladdin: A New Stage Musical will premiere in Seattle at the 5th Avenue Theatre, and it features quite a bit of cut material from the initial production of Aladdin - as well as entirely new material!
The new songs, according to Aladdin Musical are “A Million Miles Away”, “Somebody’s Got Your Back” and “A Royal Wedding”.” One of these will be a duet between Aladdin and Jasmine, and another will be a new song for Genie!
So far, the following cut songs are said to be definitely returned to the show for the premiere production: Call Me a Princess; Proud of Your Boy; High Adventure; Why Me; Babkak, Omar, Aladdin, Kassim
It looks like it will be returning to some of Aladdin’s roots! You can view a few song previews on the 5th Avenue Youtube channel. Did I mention Jonathan Freeman, the original voice of Jafar, will be starring as Jafar?
Tickets are on sale now and performances start soon, so get them now!
I’m very excited about this musical. I’ve been thinking it needed to be fuller-length ever since there was the stage show at California Adventure.
I’m also excited about the up and coming Hunchback musical!
